IN TIMES SUCH AS THESES WE SHOULD EMBRACE OUR FAITH!

I know none of you reading this blog would disagree with me when I say we are in strange and troubling times.  There are earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, global warming and that's just the environment. Then we have a very divided country that is separated along financial and racial,  lines. The ugly head of racism has come out of the closet and boldly saying,"I am alive and well".  Such hatred for the Black President by Christan Conservatives and those southern Republicans!
Where are God's People?  The Conservative Right, the Tea Party, and the Christian Right, the unholy trinity, care more about money and power than people.  In a recent Republican debate a professed Christian candidate was asked what should happen to a uninsured person who need life saving treatment, and this person replied let them die!  This answer drew applauds from the right wing professed Christian audience.
I some times wonder if these people read the same bible I do!  They hate the idea of helping the poor, calling it the redistribution of wealth.  These same folks will debate the fallacy of the teaching of Darwin's evolution, but will in an instance embrace the theory of "Social Darwinism", which is predicated on the the survival of the fittest in society.  They believe that the poor, uneducated, uninsured, immoral, should be allowed to die off and society will be better for it.  I thought Jesus taught us to have compassion for the poor and to share what we have.  Many on the right have knowingly and unknowingly embraced the teaching of Ayn Rand.  I would like for you to do some research on this woman and you will better understand the Republican Christians.
We may feel powerless from a social, political, or economical position, but we are very strong from our position of faith. I know sometimes I am captured with anger, dismay, and fatalism when I come face to face with these situations.  I become distracted from the source from which my power comes and begin to focus of the problems.  I have to repeat to myself that no matter what I read, hear, feel, or see, my Lord is in control and he has left me a "Comforter " in the Holy Spirit.
We need to fast and pray regularly for our family, neighborhood, city, country, military, and our leaders.  We need not pray that the Lord would strike down some of these lying hypocrites, although it is very tempting. The Lord said that if we would humble ourselves and turn away from our wicked ways He would heal our land.  We can at least make sure we aren't part of the problem by getting our own pride, tongues, immorality, covetousness and greed under control.
Oh Lord I thank you for my salvation, for all the compassion and love that you have shown toward me and my family.  I agree with those who are reading this and we ask you to have pity and compassion on our communities and its residents and leaders.  Father they have turned your words into tools to hurt the poor, and get revenge on those whom they do not like.  Father just look at all the TV programs professing to teach your gospel, and interpreting your words to fulfill their own gains. We see men, of the gospel, calling the President the anti-Christ. This group prays that your people will get a zest to study like the people in Berea who after disciple had taught them, they went home and read the scriptures to determine if what had been taught was from your word.  We in this group have a similar question as the disciples.  How long, how many times.  I know your answer as long as it takes, and as many times as it takes.  Then we put you in remembrance of what the disciples requested of you when they said, "then give us more faith". Yes I know faith comes by the Word.
Thank you Lord for your continues blessings, directions and compassion.  Thanks for lifting us up when we are down, and bringing your past blessing into our remembrance in out times of need. Amen!
